The Foundation Stone

IMG-20140119-WA001

Every man is connected to three generations – the generation you met, the generation you belong and the generation you give birth to. The generation you meet owes you their history, records and principles. The generation you belong to needs your impact. The generation you give birth to owes you continuity or change as the case demands while you owe them the foundation to build upon.

Before us the previous generation has gone. We have our heroes of faith – Apostle Paul, Peter, John, Abraham. They have gone but they left us stones to follow. We can follow their epistles. Paul’s epistles show us what happened in Christ. E.W. Kenyon (a pastor of the New Covenant Baptist Church and founder and president of Bethel Bible Institute in Spencer, Massachusetts; 1867-1948) died before my grandfather was born, but I’ve met him in his books. He showed me the paths to walk as a New Creation. Kenneth E. Hagin (an influential American Pentecostal Preacher, often referred to as the father of the “Word of Faith” movement) showed us how to walk the path of faith and how pivotal it is for our Christian race. Stones have been deposited by the fathers for the next generation.

Yet My people have forgotten Me; they burn incense to false gods, they have been caused to stumble in their ways AND IN THE ANCIENT ROADS, to walk in bypaths, in a way not graded and built up [not on a highway] – Jer.18:15.

Remove not the ancient landmark… Prov.23:10

Tommy Barnett (an author, the senior pastor of Phoenix First Assembly of God mega church in Phoenix, Arizona) has a son, Matthew (Pastor and co-founder of the Dream Center in Los Angeles, California). Matthew Hagee (Associate Pastor of Cornerstone Church) is building on the stone that has been laid by his father John Hagee (an America founder and senior pastor of Cornerstone in San Antonio, Texas and the CEO of Global Evangelism Television (GETV)). Billy Graham (an American Evangelical Christian Evangelist and was a spiritual adviser to several Presidents of the United States like Dwight D.Eisenhower and Richard Nixon) guided his son, Franklin Graham (an American Christian Evangelist and Missionary and president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA)) on the paths to follow. Jentezen Franklin (the senior Pastor of Free Chapel in Gainesville, Georgia) pursued ministry under the guidance of his father, Billy Franklin. Joel Osteen (an American Preacher, televangelist, author and the Senior Pastor of Lakewood Church, the largest Church in the United States) is still building on the foundation that his father, John Osteen (founder and first pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston). Yours might not be your father or mother, but if you examine your life, you’d discover that there are some stones that have been laid for you to build on. Though, you can decide to veer off their path but there are some people that God has placed in your life that have laid some stones for you to build on

Remove not the ancient landmark which your fathers have set up.Prov.22:28

Somebody left a stone for you to follow. It might be a father, sister, cousin or anybody. Thank God for the stones he has given you to follow. Thank God for following the foundations the Fathers have laid.

Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily. Isa.28:16

The Scriptures provide precedent: Look! I’m setting a stone in Zion, a cornerstone in the place of honor. Whoever trusts in this stone as a foundation will never have cause to regret it. 1Pet.2:16 (MSG)

Present yourselves as building stones for the construction of a sanctuary vibrant with life, in which you’ll serve as holy priests offering Christ-approved lives up to God. 1Pet.2:5 (MSG).

For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (1Cor.3:11).

Christ is the corner stone (a stone for foundation) and we are the building stones. The same composition of elements that makes the cornerstone makes the building stones as well. The block used for the foundation of a house has the same quality as the building blocks. He is the first born and you are in Him. What the corner stone can achieve, the building blocks can also achieve. Christ is your prototype. You are seated together with him in heavenly places. You are a joint-heir with Christ. All that Jesus has is yours.

Christ as our prototype showed us how to walk in the realm of no limit.

At age 12, he sat in the midst of the teachers of the law, both listening to them and asking them questions. He was not even a teenager when he was dazing doctors of the law with his understanding and amazing answers. In our time, that would mean astonishing emeritus professors with his wisdom. He was not just a regular student; he displayed divinity among the scribes. [Luke 2:45-48]

He met with Martha on his way to Lazarus’ house because Lazarus had died and Martha concluded that Jesus was late in coming. She said, “If you had been here, my brother wouldn’t have died”. He raised Lazarus from the dead. Everywhere he went, death couldn’t hold sway. Life abounded everywhere He went. [John 11:1-45]

The disciples were in the boat and there was such a massive storm of wind. They were going down. But when Jesus rose to the occasion, the wind ran out of his breath and the sea became smooth as glass. Wind and sea were at his beck and call. He altered the course of nature. He had power over nature. [Mark 4:37-41]

He was asked to pay tax and Judas Iscariot, the treasurer wasn’t around. He asked Peter to get down to the lake, cast a hook, and pull in the first fish that bites because in that fish resides the coin needed. He controlled the economy. There was always money in circulation; he was never stranded. He was more than the minister for finance. [Mathew 17:24-27].

He spoke to the fig tree and it obeyed. He was more than the Minister of Agriculture because even plants obeyed him. [Mathew 21:19-21].

With five loaves and two fishes, He fed 5,000 people with twelve baskets left over. He was more than a philanthropist; he was the God of more than enough meeting needs. [Mt. 14:17-21]. He was more than a career coach. He was setting men on the path of purpose and destiny. He was giving meaning to the lives of men. He was more than a Medical Doctor. He healed all kinds of diseases including age-old infirmities. All forms of diseases and sicknesses couldn’t resist the healing power of his word. He was more than a lecturer or a motivational speaker. He taught for three days, healing all that were oppressed by one form of disease or the other; yet the people didn’t ask for food. He had the words of life. His words are Spirit and life.

Whatever dimension in Jesus Christ is the same dimension in you. In Christ, the fullness of the Godhead tabernacles in you. God is back in every sphere of human endeavors through you. Jesus Christ showed us how to make impossibilities become possible.

When everybody is complaining of insufficiency, you are enjoying abundance. People around you may be complaining of economic recession, but you’ll be enjoying the ability of the Spirit to flourish in hard times. The divine life does not make you ordinary.

In famine and drought, Isaac was digging wells and finding water. In that same year, Isaac sowed in the land and reaped a hundred-fold harvest. He got richer and richer until he became very wealthy. Then Abimelech came to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath his advisor and Phicol the head of his troops to make a covenant with him [Gen.26:12-30]. Can you imagine the President of a Country with his Special Adviser and Chief of Defence Staff coming to make pact with just one man, Isaac? People should make transactions with you because they know you carry the fullness of divinity in you. They should form ally with you because they know God is with them because God is in you.

At menopause, Sarah conceived Isaac. In the face of seeming setbacks, Joseph was enjoying progress. Abraham’s dead sperm cells needed something higher than the normal life to be able to produce Isaac. People should be looking for you when they have impossible cases because they know that the divine life you carry dispels impossibility. You are a heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ. You are the seed of Abraham [Gal.3:29].

When a viper fastened itself to Apostle Paul’s hand and the villagers expected him to swell up and die. Paul just shook the viper into the fire and the villagers had to conclude that He was a god. [Acts 28:1-6]. The divine life is a higher life. It’s a life that transcends over mere existence. It’s the God-life. Let your colleagues, co-workers, class mates, business partners see that there is something different about you. Let them conclude you are a god because they can see that despite the fact that you do the ordinary things, you get extraordinary results.

You don’t need to start making it a prayer point that “Father, give me divine life”. The divine life is in you already because you are in Christ Jesus (our cornerstone). You have God’s ability abiding in you in the person of Christ.

Ray McCauley puts it this way, “If we want people to want the faith we have, they must see the quality of life it produces”. The quality of life they want to see is the divine life – the God-kind of life.

As you step into the week, be conscious of the reality that the fullness of the Godhead tabernacles in you. You are the perfect expression of divinity among men.

I believe so much in you.

DIVINE LIGHT

bible-Sunlight

I looked through the meaning of the word ‘light’ from the Concise Oxford Dictionary and the meanings I got are very relevant to what I’ll be sharing in this piece. According to it, Light is a natural agent that STIMULATES SIGHT and makes things visible; Light is a source of ILLUMINATION; Light means UNDERSTANDING, ENLIGHTENMENT; Light is an area that is BRIGHTER or paler than its surroundings; Light is a device producing flame or spark; Light is a PERSON eminent in a particular sphere. With all these meanings, it’s obvious that light is indispensable and has a source. OUR SOURCE OF LIGHT The first occurrence of light in the scriptures is recorded in Gen.1:3 and it was during creation. The earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. God called forth light and when light came darkness vanished. This shows to us that the strength of darkness is in the absence of light. And it would also interest you to know that God couldn’t create anything when there was darkness until He called forth light. The light came via God’s spoken word (And God said, let there be light; and there was light). So that’s why the word of God remains our source of light. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. Psalm 119:105 By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path. Psalm 119:105 You’ll do well to keep focusing on God’s word. It’s the one light you have in the dark time. Nothing disarms darkness like light. We have a generation that gives little or no attention to God’s word. A generation where man-made ideas are been given preference over God’s infallible word. We live in a world where people could devote their time to reading and meditating on ‘open letters’ than can never transform their hearts or renew their minds. It’s a world where people could afford to be politically correct and spiritually dull and they keep having issues with basic truths on Grace and Righteousness. It’s a generation where we could afford to send our kids to the best Universities in the world but care less about their spiritual growth. It’s a world where quotes from people that do not have the light of God’s word in them are forming the basis of our actions and decisions. God’s Word is better than a DIAMOND, better than a diamond set between EMERALDS. You’ll like it better than strawberries in spring, better than red, ripe strawberries. Ps.19:10 (MSG) Tolulope Moody said something profound in this line of thought; He said “It’s a world where technology competes with God for hearts. A generation that wants to be politically correct but doesn’t mind being spiritually wrong – and spiritually bankrupt. A generation that has eaten and is now full and has forgotten the Lord God.” Your commands give me an edge on my enemies; they never become obsolete. Psalm 119:98 With your instruction, I understand life; that’s why I hate false propaganda. Psalm 119:104 There are different voices speaking to us from well-meaning friends, advisers, colleagues, reports, emotions and feelings etc. They may have good intentions for you but which may not be ‘God-intentions’. When these opinions are not in line with what you know in God’s word, it brings about confusion. But can you shut-down all the voices speaking to you and check what the word says about it. People can be wonderful folks and marvelous Christians, yet still be wrong about a given subject. The word of God is always the final authority. The word of God is flawless. Words which do not give light increases the darkness. Nothing disarms darkness like light. The light of God’s word gives clarity, safety, security, peace, boldness, hope, joy, help, direction, speed etc. And it’s the only antidote for frustration, confusion, guessing, impetuosity, panic, worry, pain, recklessness and every other form of darkness. Turn on the light of God’s Word. God’s word is our light for living. God is such an awesome creator that when he finished creation, he gave us a comprehensive manual for living. We should never think of getting a grip on what he wants us to believe without his manual. The word as a lamp to our feet shows us the way; it prevents us from stumbling over obstacles or wandering into paths which would lead to danger. The word as a light unto our path shows us the road we tread so that the path becomes clearer. You will see the path clearly. You will know when to turn right or turn left. The different navigations become clearer to you. God’s word prescribes the best way to live. When people ask about your opinion concerning a subject matter. Your response should be, “What does the word say about it?” You shouldn’t have any other opinion apart from God’s word. At the point of making a decision, can you take time out to meditate on God’s word concerning that matter, and as you meditate, the word in season jumps out of the pages of the written word into your spirit with a “YES”.? God’s word concerning that situation is the wisdom of God for it. If there is a victory you have not walked in, it means that there is a light you have not yet caught. Light dispel depression. Tolulope Moody had this to say, “Morning is signified in the breaking of light. Morning is not said to be the end of night, but the breaking of light. In other words, between weeping and joy on any issue in your life, the key is the breaking of light in that area. It’s in your coming to revelation in God’s word.” You have been born into the realm of God by His word. The only way to grow and become effective as a New Creation is to feed on the Word of God. Everything you will ever need is already available in the word. You must therefore put the Word before all things, above all things, and together with all things you are involved with. The word of God is our constitution. We can’t just have someone else read it to us and not know what’s in it by ourselves. The word is the substance by which the New Creation discovers himself and all that concerns him. God gave you his word to put you over. He designed it to work in every area of life. His word is light and it knows no time, distance or geographical location. God’s word is the revealed counsel of God. GO FOR THE WORD!

I believe so much in you.

Aside

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

2014 is finally here and we give glory to God for this new season. Time was given for purpose to be fulfilled. This is another season for purpose to be fulfilled. There is a season for everything. On the New Year eve, many of us were in our different places of worship anticipating the New Year. But we have many reasons for going to places of worship on the New Year’s Eve. For some, it’s another time to fellowship with other believers. For another, it’s a time to lay our expectations before God for the New Year. It’s a time to hear what God expects of them in the new season for some and yet, for another, they just want to start the New Year in the church; they want the new year to start with them being in the church. That’s why you see some breeze in by 11:55pm and leave by 12:05am. So, you discover we all have different motives for doing things and our focus for things differs. If Jesus were to still be on the earth, the only thing some people might want to have with him is probably to take a snapshot with him and upload it on any of the social media with the caption “chilling with Jesus”, while some might want to sit at his feet to learn.

As this is a new year, we all have different focus for this year. Yours might be to get a lucrative job and get married, or start your postgraduate studies. It might even be to implement that business idea you’ve been nurturing for years. In the midst of all these, God has an expectation from us in 2014 since he has already given us all things that pertain unto life and godliness (2Pet.1:3). Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us. Probably you’ve been made to understand that God does not expect anything from us and that we should only expect things from him. But Luke 12:48 clarifies this, when Jesus told his disciples “For everyone to whom MUCH IS GIVEN, from him MUCH WILL BE REQUIRED; and to WHOM MUCH HAS BEEN COMMITTED, of him they will ask THE MORE. ” Great gifts mean great responsibilities; greater gifts, greater responsibilities! I believe so strongly that there is a realm that God would have us direct our focus this season.

WHAT’S THE FOCUS?

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and BREATHED INTO HIS NOSTRILS THE BREATH OF LIFE; and man became a living being.” Gen. 2:7

The breath that God imparted into man was not the ability to intake oxygen and then releases carbon dioxide. It wasn’t the ability to inhale and exhale air. It couldn’t have been since animals had been created before man and God didn’t breathe into them yet they inhale and exhale air. TolulopeMOODY described the breath in four sentences as follows “The breath was an endowment of divinity. The breath was an impartation of the abilities of divine life. The breath was an impartation summoning to divine life. The breath was an impartation of the ways of divine life”.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have LIFE, and that they may have it more ABUNDANTLY. John 10:10

The life Jesus was referring to here was not mere existence. It couldn’t have been because the people he directed his words at were alive; he wasn’t talking to dead people. If the life he was talking about was mere existence, the sermon would have been best preached in the graveyard where we have cessation of life. So, What life was Jesus referring to here? It’s “zoe” – the God-kind of life, the divine life, the same life that God has, the same life that flows in Jesus Christ.

For as the Father has LIFE IN HIMSELF, so He has granted the Son to have LIFE IN HIMSELF. John 5:26
For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives LIFE TO THE WORLD. John 6:33

HE WHO HAS THE SON HAS LIFE; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 1John 5:12

You have divine life – the God-kind of life. The same life that flows in Christ flows in you. You are one spirit with God (1Cor.6:17). You have the fullness of divinity dwelling in you. It’s not just God with you; it’s God in you.

“The first man Adam became a living being (an individual personality).” The last Adam (Christ) became a LIFE-GIVING SPIRIT. 1Cor.15:45

Your genealogy isn’t that of the first Adam that was a living being but you belong to the generation that Christ himself birthed. A dog gives birth to a dog. A living being gives birth to a living being. A life-giving spirit gives birth to a life-giving spirit.

You are a life-giving spirit. You are a carrier of the fullness of God. You are the perfect expression of divinity among men. You have the sum total of the divine perfection, power and attributes that God has. You are the complete expression of the divine nature. The fullness of Godhead tabernacles in you [Col.2:9-10, Col.1:19, Col.1:27].

Time has come for us to manifest the abundant life we have in Christ. The assignment of the New Creation is to display divinity on earth that men might be drawn to him. When the Church does not manifest her divine-life, the world will not see anything special in the Church.

This is a year where men who are manifesting the God-life will be sought over men of intelligence. It’s a year where human wisdom will fail but men who are embodiments of the manifold wisdom of God; men who walk in supernatural wisdom (wisdom from above) will be needed and elevated. A year where many issues will defy human wisdom and the Supernatural will be highly needed. A year where Revelation (Light) is key. A year where you have to consciously engage the Holy Ghost. A year where there will be awesome demonstrations of the Spirit’s power.
A year where the world will look to the Church for Solutions.

Welcome to 2014 – The Year of manifesting the divine life (God-life) in us.

This year, the focus of this blog will be tilted towards manifesting abundant zoe in our areas of influence and endeavors; as we’ll be having words (articles) that are inspired by the Holy Spirit, teaching and training us on how to manifest this divine life in our all. Taking the God-life to the world!

I believe so much in you.
