There Is A Spirit In Man

I remember the early days of childhood when we are asked to ‘sanctify’, ‘bless’ or ‘dedicate’ any new thing given to us, we usually follow this pattern ‘ I dedicate this car (anything would pass here) in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit’. In doing the sign of the cross too, we get to mutter the same words. So somehow along the line, we felt the Holy Spirit was the least in the Trinity and should be given less regard. The arrangement has led to the misconception that the Holy Spirit is inferior to the Son i.e. the Holy Spirit is an errand boy for the trinity. In places of worship, He’s not been recognized because somewhere in our mind, we’ve been taught that he’s just the guy at the end – the least guy in the rank. Allow me say this; there is no rank in the trinity. You may be asking; if there is no rank in the Trinity, why would Jesus give the order in Matt.28 :19 when he said Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the FATHER, and of the SON, and of the HOLY GHOST? When Jesus Christ said “Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Ghost”, He was saying in essence that they should immerse believers into the name i.e. to enter a relationship with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit”. The baptism is administered equally in the name of all the three. And this is indeed the only place where the Trinity is expressed in this order. To be baptized into the Father means to be devoted unto him and trust in his promises. To be baptized into the son is to receive him as the Messiah and Saviour. To be baptized into the Holy Spirit is to receive him as your guide and Comforter. The union of these three names in the form of baptism proves that the Son and the Holy Spirit are equal with the Father. It would have been mere absurdity for Jesus to tell them to baptize also in the name of the Holy Spirit if the Holy Spirit is not equal with the father.

A.W. Tozer gave an illustration with regards to this; He said “Jesus Christ is everything that the Godhead is. God the eternal father is an infinite God, and He is love. The very nature of love is to give itself but the Father could not give his love fully to anyone not fully equal to Himself. Thus, we have the revelation of the Son who is equal to the Father and of the eternal Father pouring out his love unto the Son who could contain it, because the Son is equal with the Father. If the Father were to pour his love on the Son, a medium of communication equal both to the Father and the Son would be required and this was the HOLY GHOST. So we have the concept of Trinity – the ancient FATHER in the fullness of his LOVE pouring himself through the HOLY GHOST, who is in being equal to HIM, into the SON who is in being equal to the SPIRIT and to the FATHER.” I do not intend to write on the concept of Trinity, there are 1001 Christian literatures on it and I do not intend to add mine. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you ANOTHER COMFORTER, that he may abide with you forever; (John 14:16) KJV And I will ask the Father, and He will give you ANOTHER COMFORTER (COUNSELOR, HELPER, INTERCESSOR, ADVOCATE, STRENGTHENER, AND STANDBY), that He may remain with you forever—(John 14:16 AMP) The Amplified version gives six different synonyms for the word ‘Comforter’ – Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener and Standby. I’ll briefly discuss how this relates to us

COMFORTER: Comfort is a state of ease and freedom from a constraint. In Acts 9:31 we read that all the churches in Judea, Samaria, and Galilee walked in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit. The comfort of the Holy Spirit births encouragement. It gives rise to courage. Have you ever been faced with a situation that you needed more than the sweet words of motivational speakers or the encouraging words of man’s wisdom? Have you ever gotten to a point that you needed a divine reassurance on your God-given assignment? Have you ever felt like people don’t understand your pain, your struggles, your battles, your challenges well enough to console you? At times like this, you need comfort from the inside. It’s the comfort of the Holy Spirit that you can trust – the comfort that streams from the God of all comfort. He’s always with you so you can have fellowship. He speaks inside you. There is accurate instruction from within. With the Holy Spirit as your Comforter, the defeat of the past is completely over.

COUNSELLOR: Nobody gives guidance or advice better than the Holy Spirit. He is the Spirit of Truth; He guides us into ALL TRUTH (truth about finances, maritals, economy, etc.) John 16:13. God’s mind is revealed in the Scriptures, but we can see nothing without the spectacles of the Holy Ghost. Many times, we are too quick to ask for people’s counsel (I’m not playing down the place of receiving counsel from people), but there’s also an unseen hand calling your attention to counsel you. But most of the times, many believers want a counselor to do the work of engaging the Holy Spirit for them instead of them taking time to hear the Holy Spirit themselves. Many times when people give their counsel, they are only demonstrating their current state of spiritual growth. That is why it’s important for us to understand that what man says is not final; hear the Holy Spirit. I respect relationship and career coaches a lot, but the truth is they honestly cannot tell you who the guy you want to date would turn out to be in the next 10 years, they also can’t foresee that the company they are advising you to put pen to paper for will close down in the next two years. But the Holy Spirit knows. He takes us by the hand and guides us into all truth. The Holy Spirit is the guide of the Father in us. (Rom.8:14, Gal.5:16, Acts 8:29).

HELPER: The Holy Spirit has a mandate from God to assist every believer in his day to day living. God’s mind is revealed in the Scriptures, but we can see nothing without the spectacles of the Holy Spirit. “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities” (Rom.8:26) The word “helpeth” there means “to take hold together with” “cooperate” “assist”. The Spirit helps us in our weaknesses. The Holy Spirit comes to our aid and bears up in our weakness. Christianity seems like a burden without the helper – the Holy Spirit. Quit looking to people for help. Haven’t you had enough? Haven’t you learnt? They’ve disappointed you enough. They’ve dashed your hopes enough. They’ve caused you so much emotional trauma. The Holy Spirit is your help. He can help you get that job. He can help you get that admission. He can help you get that interview done. The Holy Spirit is your helper.

INTERCESSION: Intercession is the action of intervening on behalf of another. No matter how many resolutions you make, only the Holy Spirit can make you carry them out because He is the power of God unto Salvation. “…but the Spirit intercedes for us with groanings that words cannot express” (Rom.8:26) The Holy Spirit goes to God on our behalf with groanings in our hearts that are not expressed in words. The Holy Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will (Rom.8:27) which buttresses one of the reasons you should pray in the Spirit. We may not be able to utter them in articulate speech but with groanings. You may want to speak them out but it’s not being articulated in words but you know something is happening on your inside. The Holy Spirit does not pray on his own, he has to do it inside you. So, you must give him the opportunity to be the intercessor inside you. He doesn’t do it outside you. It gets to happen that sometimes you feel the urge to pray and words are not coming out but just groanings, it’s the Holy Spirit making intercessions on your behalf. At this point, matters are being resolved that you know nothing about and when you start seeing the results, you’d start asking yourself, when did I pray about this? The Holy Spirit is your Intercessor. ADVOCATE: An advocate is a person who publicly supports or recommends a particular cause or policy. An advocate also pleads a case on someone’s behalf. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God – Rom.8:16 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power- 1Cor.2:4. Are you in trouble? He’s your advocate. He’ll bring you out of trouble. I understand the fact that you did what you are not supposed to do and you are to face the jury. He’ll speak for you. The Counsel for the Defense will stand tall for you. He’ll speak through you. He’ll give you a mouth and a wisdom that your adversaries can’t gainsay nor resist. He knows all things. The Holy Spirit is your Advocate STRENGTHENER – The Holy Spirit equips believers for service. The Holy Spirit helps the believer to act more effectively. That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be STRENGTHENED WITH MIGHT BY HIS SPIRIT in the inner man; (Eph.3:16) The Holy Spirit helps the believer to be effective in service. Have you ever found yourself in a weak situation, unable to get up? The Holy Spirit invigorates you from within. He strengthens you from within. The Holy Spirit is your strengthener.

STANDBY – This signifies the readiness for duty or immediate deployment of a person or thing ready to be deployed in an emergency. The Holy Spirit responds to invitation. He doesn’t force Himself on the believer. When everything you know fails you. Your job, family, education, you have a standby. Just like the way the standby generator comes on when there’s power outage. The Holy Spirit is your standby. He’s always with you. When the impossible has to become possible, the Holy Spirit has to be involved. When the earth was without form and void, and there was gross darkness, He was the one that moved upon the face of the waters (Gen.1:2). When a virgin was about to get pregnant and give birth to the Saviour of the world, He was involved (Luke 1:34-35). Mary asked a question, she said “How shall these things be?”. The entity introduced in the response given by Angel Gabriel to Mary was the Holy Ghost. Every of your ‘How’s’ finds their answer in the Holy Ghost. When man was formed out of dust, He was the breath of life in the nostrils of man (Gen.2:7, Job 33:4). He was the blast of God’s nostrils that parted the red sea (Exo.15:8, 2Sam.22:16, Ps.18:15). The same Holy Spirit raised Christ from the dead (Rom.8:11). It was the same Spirit that came upon Gideon when he slew 1,000 philistines with a jawbone (Judges 15:14-16). Glory! I could go on and on! Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? 1Cor.3:16 NIV Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 1Cor.6:19 NIV Can you imagine! The same Holy Spirit that did all the aforementioned exploits now indwells a believer. The same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in me. Glory! I don’t want to tell you how much the Holy Spirit can do in and through you but I want you to take time out to meditate on these things. The man at the pool of Bethesda was waiting for someone to pull him into the river, We don’t need anyone to push us into the pool of Bethesda anymore, we have the one greater than the pool of Bethesda on our inside. He’s the river of Living waters (John 7:38). He’s the river of life. Meditate on these things and watch the transformation (shift) that’ll follow suit. You’ve got the Holy Spirit. Greater is the Spirit of God in you than he that is in the world. As 2014 draws nears, engage the Holy Ghost. But there is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding.(Job 32:8)

I believe so much in you.

When God was doing the work of creation, he spoke everything into existence. He is the Almighty and so, could have “winked” everything into existence. When he needed to create the fishes of the sea, He could have waved his hands across the sea, and fishes would have appeared. Every of God’s action was executed by his word. Jesus came to the tomb of Lazarus, wept but that didn’t raise Lazarus from the dead until he spoke (John 11:35-43). Jesus’ presence with the disciples in the storm didn’t calm the storm or make the wind cease until he spoke (Mark 4:35-39).

Man created in the image of God is also a speaking spirit. In the Scriptures we read; …that whosoever shall SAY to this mountain… (Mark 11:23), that if thou shall confess with thy MOUTH the Lord Jesus… (Rom.10:9), for by YOUR WORDS you will be JUSTIFIED, and by YOUR WORDS you will be CONDEMNED (Mat.12:37), DEATH and LIFE are in the power of the TONGUE… (Prov.18:21) …the WORDS that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life (John 6:63). Our words mean a lot. Words are activators in the realm we live in. There is the right and wrong use of the mouth.

A man’s BELLY shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled (Prov.18:20). The word “belly” here does not connote your stomach, where the residues of the food eaten are found. Jesus Christ on the great day of the feast also declared that “He that believes on me, as the Scripture has said, out of his BELLY shall flow rivers of living waters” (John 7:38), The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the BELLY (Prov.20:27), The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the BELLY (Prov.26:22). Putting these four scriptures together, the belly refers to the inmost being, the heart, the innermost being, the inward man or the center of interaction with God. Prov.18:20 in light of these translations reads, “A man’s spirit shall be satisfied with the fruit of his lips”. The fruit of the lips are words, when it becomes melodious, it becomes a song. But basically, words are the fruit of the lips. From the above, we can therefore infer that: A man’s spirit shall be satisfied with the words of his mouth. So, that means irrespective of what I say, my heart is filled with it. Notice that the scripture didn’t specify the quality of the fruit of the lips. Therefore, once it’s from the lips, the spirit is satisfied with it. The same way good food satisfies your stomach and nourishes your body; and junks do otherwise, that’s the same effect good/bad words have on your inward man. There’s nothing that satisfies your inward man more than God’s word. Talk God’s word to yourself loud, declare his counsel and promises, proclaim his faithfulness; it satisfies your inward man.

Words transmit character and thoughts. Your word reveals your nature, character, thought and identity. Anytime God speaks, it always expresses his nature (a faithful God who can’t lie), character (a loving father whose faithfulness extends to all generations), thought (thoughts of good and not of evil to give you a future, a hope and an expected end) and identity (the only wise God). The new man has the divine nature. The character of the new man is in him already, it’s called the fruit of the Spirit. God’s word is the thought pattern of the new man. The identity of the new man is in Christ. Let your words be an offshoot of all these.

Never say “I am confused”. Begin to declare “You, Oh, Lord, keep my lamp burning, my God turns my darkness into light. With your help, I advance against a troop; with God I scale a wall. The Lord guides me continually. I see in the dark because I have light. I have the light of life; therefore I do not stumble in darkness. I have the knowledge of the times and seasons, so I know what to do per time. I walk in clarity, light floods my path”.

Never say “I don’t know what to do”. Rather say “I have illumination and revelation. I know what to do, I know how to do what to do, I know when to do what to do because I have the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. Christ has been made unto me wisdom and power of God; in Him are hidden all treasures of wisdom and knowledge, therefore I walk in supernatural wisdom. I stand perfect and complete in all the will of the Father”.

Never say “Everything is falling apart; my whole world is crumbling”. Let your words be “All things are working together for my good because I love God and called according to purpose. Good things, Bad things are all working together for my good. Every detail of my life is worked out into something good.”

Never say “Why am I so unfortunate?”. Let your words satisfy your inward man by declaring “Christ’s victory is my victory. Christ’s triumph is my triumph. I’m blazing with God’s glory, I vault impossible places. God’s word transcends my feelings; I’m not unfortunate, I’m the blessed of the Lord. I’m highly favoured and greatly graced. I’m not a pitied man. I am who God says I am. Because He’s with me, I’ll not fear. God’s favour surrounds as a shield. I’m God’s delight.”

I could go on and on. Let your words be in line with your new identity in Christ. Don’t utter words that contradict your new position in Christ. Let your meditation be centered on who God says you are. Don’t go on saying words that contravenes God’s perspectives for your life. Words that make your prevalent circumstances superior to God’s word won’t satisfy your inward man. Let your words meets the expectations of your inner man. Give your faith expression by the words of your mouth.

I honestly agree with you on the fact that there are seemingly unpleasant situations around you that you have to respond to. But it would interest you to know that in Mt.7:24-27, both houses were confronted with the same rain, the same flood and the same wind. Your decision to build your life on the rock rather than the sand does not make you immune from the storm – but it does affect the outcome. You’ll always come out victorious. Let your words be in line with the end you already know.
You may be asking, what attitude should I maintain in these times?. Let’s take a peep into Mark 4:35-39, Here, Jesus and the disciples both experienced the same situation, much like Jesus’ parable of the two houses battered by the storm. Yet the disciples were alarmed; He was calm. They were extremely afraid; his faith remained steadfast. He knew the end from the beginning. He spoke and the wind ran out of breath; the sea became smooth as glass. Your word ends your storm. Your storm in answerable to God’s word in your mouth.
Your uniqueness is in what you say. You are as lovely as words. Your words should become nuggets for others to run with. Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation and can also be your damnation. A word that has no purpose attached to it is an idle (careless) word. The words you speak should have intents and contents. The mouth is only a vent to what’s in the heart (Mt.12:34). The writing of the tongue is a direct implication of the overflow of the heart. Guard your heart! (Prov.4:23).
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, IN WORD, IN CONVERSATION, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. (1Tim.4:12).
Let your SPEECH be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. (Col.4:6).
Teach believers with your life by your word and conversation. Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out. Let your words build people up and not tear them down. Your words should encourage tired people. Your words should give people reason to hope again. Let grace and life be always found on your lips. Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Eph.4:29 NIV).
Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. (Eph.4:29 NLT).
Every of your challenge is temporary. But glory to God! The word of God lives and abides forever. Why not allow your words to stem from that which lives and abides forever. There’s far more here that meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever (2Cor.4:18).
E.W Kenyon puts it this way “Your success and usefulness in the world is going to be measured by your confession and by the tenacity with which you hold fast to that confession under all circumstances”. No word from God is void of power. We never realize beyond our confession.
Stand by God’s word and declare them knowing that God cannot fail you. Your words travel faster than you. Speak God’s words – right words.
CONFESSIONS: Life abounds everywhere I go because I am a life-giving spirit. I do not stumble in darkness because I have the light of life. My words are full of grace. I bring out the best in people with my words. My words give life. I am like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
I believe so much in YOU.

A student’s performance in a particular subject is often measured by the marks obtained in an examination against the marks obtainable. In this Christian race, our performance is measured by how far we were able to go with God’s assignment committed into our hands. Our performance could also be measured by how far we’ve traded with the talent God has given us. At the end of the day, the only authorized person to judge our performance is God. “Let God be true and every man be a liar” (Rom.3:4). He’s the righteous judge.
But i discovered that we are quick to judge people’s performances. A lot of times we say Methuselah lived for nothing, the only thing the bible mentioned about him was his birth and death. Infact Methuselah has become an household name for any youth that is not doing anything with his or her life or for someone whose achievements is not synonymous with his age. And we are also quick to say Samson wasted his destiny on the laps of Delilah, not minding the fact that “better” is the end of a thing than it’s beginning thereof and the scripture made us to understand that “Samson killed more than he has ever killed in his dying days” Judges 13:5. It would also interest you to know that Samson’s name was listed among the heroes of faith (Heb.11:32-34).
Now let’s start with Methuselah
In Gen.5:1-end,”…and he died” occurred 8 times and in the middle of that was a man who didn’t die and that was Enoch. Enoch walked with God and he was not, for God took him (Gen.5:25). But for 65years, Enoch didn’t have a relationship with God. Then he got a son, Methuselah (Methuselah means “at his death, the waters (flood) will come forth”). So God gave a revelation to Enoch when Methuselah was born, He said “Name this baby, Methuselah, because when this baby dies i am going to judge the world with flood”. This revelation came first to Enoch not Noah.
1) Enoch didn’t walk with God until he gave birth to Methuselah (Gen.5:21-24).
Enoch started walking with God when He had a revelation from God. And that revelation was Methuselah. So, the birth of Methuselah launched Enoch into a relationship with God.
Anytime Methuselah was sick, Enoch got a bit scared. He would start asking “is judgement now going to come”.
2) Methuselah made Enoch conscious of the Lord’s judgement which made Enoch to stand more in the awe of God.
I can just imagine someone say, “at his death, the flood will come! ” come here. So, everytime Methuselah is called, you are reminded that “at his death, the flood will come.” “at his death, the judgement will come”
3) And that fear made Enoch to walk with God more. He also made Enoch realize that the things of eternity can’t be compared with the things of time.
4) Methuselah helped Enoch to live with eternity in view.
All these crises helped Enoch to walk with God more.

“And Methuselah lived 969 years” (Gen.5:27)
5) God’s tremendous longsuffering is displayed here in that he allowed Methuselah to live the longest of all. Everywhere he went, people kept on hearing “at his death, the judgement will come”. Everywhere he was, people kept on hearing the message. For 969 years people heard that message but rejected it.
2Pe 3:15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation…,
6) It was not Just Noah that preached about the flood, Methuselah’s name had been preaching it before Noah came on board.
Methuselah had been preaching the message long before Noah that the flood will come. They may not have gotten the details, but the message kept on ringing “at his death, the judgement will come.”
Jud 1:14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, PROPHESIED about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints,
Jud 1:15 to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”
7) We read in Jude that Enoch prophesied, HOW? He prophesied by Methuselah, “at his death, the flood will come”.
8) Enoch was the first man who demonstrated that you could walk with God outside the Garden of Eden. The first man walked with God in the Garden of Eden (Adam), the second man (Enoch) walked with God outside the Garden of Eden.
9) Even after sin came in, that was when Enoch walked with God. Enoch didn’t see death.
Noah was 600years old when Methuselah died. So I want to believe, Noah must have asked Methuselah about his grandfather (Enoch) to know how he walked with God. And that must have birthed a longing in Noah’s heart to walk with God.
Gen 6:9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.
10) God started it with Enoch through Methuselah, Methuselah passed it on to Noah who finished it.
I want to humbly say, Methuselah lived up to his name. Enoch’s walk with God started with the revelation of Methuselah, Noah’s story started with the revelation of how Enoch walked with God it.
You aren’t just here to take space. God has a purpose in mind for allowing you get that job. He had it all planned out when you wanted Abuja for your NYSC posting and you ended up in Nasarawa. It wasn’t a coincidence when you said it back in your undergraduate days that you can never work in a bank and its five years and still counting, you are a banker. It wasn’t by chance when you thought you’d gotten to your Rehoboth and God said it’s time to move. It wasn’t fate when you’d planned doing your postgraduate studies abroad and you end up at the University of Ibadan. He’s the creator-God and the potter-God. God’s behind those events. He’s the one behind the scene; orchestrating the moves so that he can strategically position you where he wants. It’s solely because there are some souls that may never come to the light except at your revelation. At every revealing of the sons of God in every facets of human life, lives are liberated, captives are set free, the broken-hearted finds reason to be hopeful again. This is the reason the whole creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed (Rom.8:19).
Give thanks to God! He always leads us in the winners’ parade because we belong to Christ. THROUGH US, GOD SPREADS THE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST EVERYWHERE LIKE PERFUME. (2Cor.2:4 NIRV).
and to God are thanks, who at all times is leading us in triumph in the Christ, and the FRAGRANCE OF HIS KNOWLEDGE HE IS MANIFESTING THROUGH US IN EVERY PLACE (2Cor.2:4 YLT)

tolulopeMOODY puts it this way “There is a generation right under your nostrils that stands no realistic chance of finding God except through you. The wise men couldn’t locate Jesus until they saw the star.” There’s a yearning in the heart of a generation that seeks the revelation of God. But like the Ethiopian Eunuch, how can they understand unless someone explains to them (Acts 8:27-40). Would you be God’s mouthpiece?
“Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be SALT-SEASONING that brings out the GOD-FLAVORS of this earth. IF YOU LOSE YOUR SALTINESS, HOW WILL PEOPLE TASTE GODLINESS? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.
“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, BRINGING OUT THE GOD-COLORS in the world. GOD IS NOT A SECRET TO BE KEPT. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.
If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand.
Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light STAND–SHINE! Keep open house; BE GENEROUS WITH YOUR LIVES. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. (Mt.5:13-16 MSG)

Enoch’s walk with God started with the revelation of Methuselah. There’s a generation out there that needs your revelation to kick-start their walk with God.
Are you available?
Will your confession be, “I exude the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere I go?” .It’s time to brace up!
I believe so much in YOU.

When someone walks up to you and asks, who are you?, It’s a question of identity. I think the first response would be to tell the person your name. In most of the scenarios, our answers usually stem from our background, abilities, achievements and prevailing circumstances. When a child is given birth to in a family, they usually conduct a naming ceremony for the child simply for the purpose of identity and for the rest of his life, he answers to that identity if he’s a boy, but if a girl, her identity changes to that of the husband’s. . Every of man’s endeavor has always been about identity. That’s why a Professor would get angry with you for calling him a Doctor. And it would interest you to know that my name does not change because of any prevalent circumstance. Whether I have cash at hand or not, whether I am indisposed or not, those things does not change my sex or my name.

When you were born into God’s family, something happened to your identity. You carry a new identity that is created after God. A naming ceremony was conducted in Heaven when you got born again. There was an impartation of the divine life. Your genealogy changed. The same way you’d ask me about my name or gender and I won’t have to think about it before responding should be the way you carry your new identity in Christ without any iota of doubt.

But most times, we allow ourselves to be defined by our prevalent circumstances. You may have gotten to some point and it looks like a dead end and the only thing you could utter is that “What I have is not the reality”. I’ve heard people say; ‘Be Real!, Let’s face reality!, Let’s face facts!, Forget Spirituality, this is Life!, This is the real world!, What you have is the theory, this is practical’. And most of these comments stems out of the fact that they felt God’s word isn’t real. Then I begin to ask myself if there is anything more real than the word of God. The word of God is our reality.

By faith, we see THE WORLD called into existence BY GOD’S WORD, what we see created by what we don’t see. (Heb.11:3 MSG). This Son perfectly mirrors God, and is stamped with God’s nature. He HOLDS EVERYTHING TOGETHER BY WHAT HE SAYS–POWERFUL WORDS!… (Heb.1:3 MSG) In the beginning was THE WORD, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him ALL THINGS were made; without him NOTHING was made that has been made. (John 1:1-3 NIV)

We’ve allowed circumstances (facts) to prevail over the truth (God’s word). The Bible in Gen.1:2 says; darkness was upon the face of the deep. Here God could have said, “This darkness is critical! This darkness is unbelievable!” and believe me he’d have been correct because that was the situation of things but that means he’d have been ruled by sight. But he didn’t magnify the darkness, he simply spoke the light to existence (Gen.1:3). The natural is no match for the supernatural. The seen is no match for the unseen. The temporary is no match for the eternal. Can we begin to magnify God’s word above our circumstances? Can we begin to see ourselves in the light of our new identity in Christ?

It was in a bid to become like God that Adam & Eve ate the fruit (Gen.3:1-5). But they were already created in the image and likeness of God (Gen.1:26-27). That was the battle the enemy fought against the first man and woman, a battle he won by deceit. He made them to doubt that they were who God said they were. You may be on the sickbed now, that doesn’t change the fact that he himself bore your sicknesses and diseases and by his stripes you have been healed (1Pet.2:24, Isaiah 53:5). You may ask, “What do I need to do?” You simply need to fight the good fight of faith with the word of God in your mouth. The enemy wants to fight your convictions so that you can nullify it, he wants to confront your confession of faith so that you can search for an alternative, he wants you to accept defeat, and he wants you to believe the facts of life over the truth of God’s word.

Let us hold fast the profession of OUR FAITH WITHOUT WAVERING; (for he is faithful that promised (Heb.10:23 KJV)

God is not man, one given to lies, and not a son of man changing his mind. Does he speak and not do what he says? Does he promise and not come through? (Num.23:19 MSG) God can’t break his word. And because his word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable (Heb.6:18 MSG) Now thanks be to God WHO ALWAYS leads us in triumph in Christ (2Cor.2:24).

Fight the good fight of faith. It’s a good fight because faith always wins.

Jesus Christ is referred to as the last Adam (1Cor.15:45). He was baptized at River Jordan (Matt.3:16-17) where the Heavens opened and the Spirit of God descended on Him in the form of a dove and God spoke from heaven saying, “This is my BELOVED SON, in whom I am well pleased” (Matt.3:17). After that the devil came to him and said, “If you are the son of God, command that these stones become bread.”(Mt.4:3). The same method he used in deceiving the first Adam, he wanted to use for the last Adam. The devil implied that the fact that God said Jesus was His son was not enough, Jesus needed to prove it. If he had yielded, he would have defined his sonship by performance. Instead, He said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Mt.4:4). This could be translated to mean, whether I turn these stones into bread or not, I am who God says I am. My identity won’t stem from what I have done or what I have not done. And it would interest you to know that when God said, “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased”, Jesus had not worked any miracle or exercised any authority. Your identity therefore is not rooted in the“DO-ING” but rather “BE-ING”; not about what you have done but in who Christ has made you to be.

Your uniqueness is on your inside not about what you’ve done or what you’ve not done, it’s about the new identity you have now.

When the man at the beautiful gate met with Peter and asked for alms, Peter, even when Peter knew he didn’t have money to give to him, looked inwards and gave him what his money could not have gotten him (Acts.3:8). Paul looked at King Agrippa and said “I wish you could be like me, except for these chains” (Acts 26:29). They came to Jesus for his temple tax and Judas Iscariot (the treasurer) wasn’t around but he got the money from the mouth of a fish (Matt.17:24-27). These men were never stranded. They all knew there was more to their lives than what people can see. They all walked in the supernatural. They all embraced what the normal man would see as illusion.

Who told you that you are a failure because you wrote SSCE three times? Who told you that you can’t succeed because people that are more experienced than you have done the business and they have failed? Who told you that your inability to get a job makes you a failure? Who told you nothing good can ever come forth from you? Who told you God has forgotten you because you are of marriageable age and you have no suitor let alone think of wedding plans? Who told you that it’s over for you? Who told you that it’s too late. Whose report will you believe? Though the battle may be raging but Victory is always ours in Christ Jesus. The best report is the one that comes through faith. Stop responding to life as if it were created by human reasoning. tolulopeMOODY said something that is very profound with this line of thought, He said “Your uniqueness and essence is nothing on the external”.

Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, if the Lord has not authorized and commanded it? (Lam.3:37).

Fight the good fight of faith with your new identity in Christ. One of my revered personalities said “Everybody fails because of one thing…trusting the wrong voice. If you succeed, it will be because you trusted the right voice. Your future is decided by who you choose to believe”. I know whom I have believed.

I am who God says I am! I am the healed of the lord! All things are working together for my good because I love God and I’m called according to purpose!

I am a chosen generation called forth to show forth his radiance!

I walk in power, I walk in miracles, I live a life of favour! It  doesn’t matter what you see now, I am blessed beyond a curse!

I lay up gold as dust, the abundance of the sea is returned unto me!

I am a global light, I shine everywhere i go!

Christ has been made unto me the wisdom and power of God; therefore I walk in light and supernatural wisdom!

I am blessed in the city, I am blessed in the country, the works of my hands is blessed!

I raise men of influence everywhere I go.

I’m not a pitied man, I’m a graced man.

I exude the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere I go.

I’m not a victim of circumstances, I’m master over them.

I flourish everywhere I go.

Keep declaring who you are and what you have in Christ. I call forth the King in You.

I believe so much in YOU.
